Parish of St Luke (Twinbrook)

Sacramental Preparation

Baptism

These take place on the first Sunday of each month at 1:00pm.  Contact the presbytery at least a month before the date of baptism.  The child and family will be visited by a member of the parish baptism team.  A separate baptism leaflet is available on request or to download from the Baptism Page.

Sacramental Preparation for Penance, Eucharist & Confirmation at
St Luke's, St Mark’s Primary Schools & Scoil na Fuiseoige

Children attending schools in the parish receive religious education throughout their school experience.  Running alongside this is sacramental preparation in the Parish involving both children and parents in primary three, four and seven.  Parents are expected to attend a parish meeting and enrol their child for the appropriate sacrament.  This pre-sacramental preparation is vital in helping parents to recognise and assume their responsibility with regard to handing on their Catholic faith to their children.

Sacramental Preparation for Penance, Eucharist & Confirmation for
Children of the Parish attending other schools

Parents are the first teachers of their children. The schools will support parents of the parish in this task.  Those who choose, however, to send their children to other schools are at the same time accepting full responsibility for the religious upbringing of their children.  This is their right and privilege.  The Parish will endeavour to ensure that, with the parents’ co-operation, these children will be adequately prepared for the reception of the sacraments.  It is important that parents enrol their child for the appropriate sacrament with the Parish, in the first month of the school year i.e., September.  Parents will then be kept fully informed regarding the parish pre-sacramental programme and are expected to participate.

Anointing of the Sick

The sick and housebound are visited by a priest once a month, during the first Friday week.  In addition, they can also receive communion on a Sunday from our Extra-Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, who visit their homes after the 10am Mass.  Please contact the presbytery if you, a relative, friend or neighbour in the parish is sick and would like a priest to visit.  Our Mass for the sick (with the sacrament of anointing) usually takes place on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, the 11th of February each year.

Holy Orders

For further information on discerning a vocation to the priesthood or religious life and the associated annual vocations retreats contact the presbytery.

Matrimony

In order to allow time for preparation and necessary paperwork to be completed, it is essential that you give the parish a minimum of three months notice of your intention to get married.  (Similar notice must also be given to the State through the local Council offices).  Please do not make firm wedding arrangements until you are sure that the date, priest and church are available.  A separate marriage booklet with more detailed advice is available on request or to download on the Matrimony page.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

If you are an adult wishing to be received into the Catholic Church please contact the parish directly for more information.
