he Offertory Collection was
introduced in St Luke’s in 1976. At
that time
envelopes were issued to all families in the
parish. Envelopes are used for the Weekly, Monthly
and Special Collections. The parish depends
completely upon the support of every member of the
parish family to finance its development and
maintenance.
One way you can help, if you are not already doing
so, is to give some thought to committing yourself
to planned giving. That means using Weekly
Offertory Envelopes to contribute whatever amount
you can afford to give to your parish each week. Alternatively you may contribute by Standing order
on your Bank.
Contributions to the Weekly Offertory
Collection are completely confidential. Each
contributor is given a box of envelopes with an
identifying number. The Weekly Collection is
counted by a team of workers and each individual’s
contribution is recorded against a number for the
purpose of parish accounts and to prove to the
Inland Revenue the receipt of the money under the
Gift Aid Scheme. The names and addresses of
parishioners are kept in a separate private ledger
and no one has access to any of this information
except the Parish Priest and the Parish Accountant;
in other words no names, addresses or contributions
are disclosed to anyone else.
It would be helpful
if you would contact the Parish Office if you have
not been issued with weekly envelopes or if the
details on your present box are not accurate. |
