John Murray is a native of the
Parish of Ballyclare & Ballygowan.
He began studies for the priesthood
at
St
Malachy's College
while attending the Queens University of Belfast. His
Undergraduate Theological studies were at the
Gregorian
University, Rome followed by Postgraduate studies in Liturgy at
the San Anselmo Liturgy Institute also in Rome.
Fr John was
ordained on the 4th of July 1976 and was
appointed to the Parish of Derriaghy (which has since been
split into four parishes: St Anne's, Our Lady Queen of
Peace, Derriaghy and St Luke's). He spent
the next nine years
there as a curate.
In 1985 he was appointed Spiritual Director to the Diocesan
Seminary and Vocations Director for the diocese of Down and
Connor. In 1998 he was appointed Parish Priest to
the Parish of St. Luke (Twinbrook), whilst still retaining
the office of Diocesan Vocations Director. Fr. Murray
also writes a monthly article for the 'Sacred Heart
Messenger', a Jesuit publication. |
